Eco Haul

Driving through my neighborhood on the way to work this morning, I did a little double-take: a truck with a logo that said “Eco Haul” was parked on the street.

I made a note, and checked out the company’s site when I got to work.

Judging from the name and situation, it’s pretty clear that Eco Haul is a local waste/debris removal service. There are several of those around.

Here was my big question: what makes them Eco? In their words…

We specialize in the reuse and recycling of all the material that we haul. The vast majority of what we haul does not go to the landfill. Through strategic partnerships with for-profit reuse organizations, non-profit reuse centers, donation centers, thrift stores, salvage yards, recycling centers, and many others, we manage to divert more material from the landfill than any other organization.

This service will come at a cost. I’m also aware of services that will haul away your trash for free. According to their site, this is why they charge:

We have the capability of taking just about anything you could throw our way, including mattresses, TVs, soil, etc., unlike organizations that remove material for free. Also, the free organizations sell your stuff. We don’t. Our careful and efficient crews do all the loading and clean-up, as well, and there are fees associated with disposal and recycling material.

According to their site, they won’t handle hazardous materials. Other than that, if you live the San Francisco Bay Area and have the need, I highly recommend that you check them out!
