Earth Hour, Climb California weekend
This was a big weekend for me:
First off, I did the San Francisco Climb California: a charity stair climb to the 52nd floor of 555 California in downtown San Francisco. That’s 1197 stairs!
The fundraiser was for the American Lung Association. The premise: if you have the ability to climb the stairs and breathe deep, help raise money for research into lung-related illnesses.
My company put a team of about a dozen climbers together. I have to say: what a great, inspiring and fun event! And it was all over so quick. Here’s a great write-up from the San Francisco Chronicle.
It was quite emotional since I had just lost my Mom earlier this year, due to lung cancer. I did this climb for her honor.
I’m lucky, since I run and I was strong enough to come in under 15 minutes. I like to think that I was getting some help, not only from her inspiration, but maybe a little bit of something extra from her as well.
I had a little more planned for this post, but now both of my boys and I have varying degrees of colds. I’m running on fumes right now, so I’ll update with photos of the climb, plus recap Earth Hour tomorrow!
