Stop The Spray

I did a post on the upcoming California Apple Moth spray campaign earlier in the month.
The premise is that, like it or not, thousands of California residents in several counties will be getting sprayed with a pesticide that is meant to neutralize the Apple Moth. This bug is claimed to be a major threat to our state’s agriculture.
The problem: the pesticide is unsafe, and the Apple Moth may not be capable of as much damage as the state is telling us.
StopTheSpray.org is stepping up their efforts to educate and empower citizens to speak out against the pesticide bombing that has been taking place in California.
This is a great, and very needed, resource for those of us who are potentially affected.
One of the most controversial outcomes that will affect everyone, is that organic farmers who get sprayed could theoretically lose their organic certification as a result.
This will not only affect the livelihoods of the farmers, but also inflate the prices for California-organic produce.
And just happens to be ridiculously unfair.*
You can act by emailing friends, sign a petition or send a postcard.
Act, act and act. We will need to keep kids and pets indoors, and then wipe and wash everything down after a spraying happens. And the “spray” itself will actually be tiny pellets. Exactly the kind of thing that young children and pets may be curious about and ingest.
So, let’s Stop The Spray. Don’t give up your chance to speak out.
*I am caveating all of this, as I’ve not confirmed that these statements are 100% valid. I will correct and update as needed.
