My Mom
Today would have been my Mom, Lois Smith’s, 69th birthday. Sadly, we lost her last August.
Even though she is not here, she has everything to do with my daily motivation. The main reason that I started this blog was to create something positive. We went through so many negative things, as they related to her health, over the last few years. I feel like I owe her and myself more forays into the positive.
So, although I spend a lot of time on the Green side of the equation, today I want to balance with the Simple. These are things I do every single day.
Take time every day to pause, breathe deep and be grateful to have what you have. It’s easy to get into Hallmark territory with this, but the best way to live, is to live fully every single hour.
Hug your kids, smile, speak your mind, do something fun every day, listen to music, do something challenging every day, be healthy, read for enjoyment, wear what you want, eat good food, never miss a chance to be nice to someone.
Crazy that it takes losing someone to learn this fully.
This day, and every day, I thank my Mom for everything she was, and everything she gave (and still gives) me. She is always missed.

What a beautiful post! I’m so sorry that you lost your mom. This site and this post is such a wonderful way to honor her.
Well said; I’m truly sorry to hear about your loss. Thanks for sharing the inspiration of your mother with all of us.
