SuperBowl MVP Eli Manning selects hybrid Cadillac Escalade
Fresh off of his SuperBowl MVP performance, and win, last night, New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning has chosen the hybrid Cadillac Escalade for his prize.
Manning’s individual effort was rewarded with the MVP prize, and his choice of Cadillacs. He went with the Escalade hybrid, which isn’t available yet.
“I know it comes out in the summer,” he told Cadillac’s CEO. “I want the first one.”

Eli Manning was given his choice of Caddys, and he chose the upcoming huge SUV with Two-Mode powertrain. The SUV will be available later this year.
Guess we really shouldn’t be too surprised. Football players in SUVs are a pretty common sight. At least one person says hybridizing the large rides is a step in the right direction.
Every single mention of an environmentally-friendly product by a public figure is a step in the right direction. This is really good news. And I’m sure Cadillac is thrilled with their choice of advertising.
As AutoBlogGreen notes, it is a stereotype (albeit, likely true one) that football players, other athletes love their big SUVs. I had this point reinforced a few years back. I recall seeing a pitcher for the San Francisco Giants rolling up in an Escalade to a shopping center near my office. His choice of car just seemed so garish, but expected.
For some reason, as a baseball fan and strong Green consumer, I wish there was a way to reconcile the two. Perhaps we’ll be able to look back and thank Eli Manning for making public his choice of an environmentally-friendly SUV.
