Green As A Thistle Is No More

One of our favorite blogs, green or otherwise seems to have wound down to a stop.
As of today, blogger Vanessa from Green As a Thistle is hanging it up. Somewhat. She’s mildly cagey, but she is giving the distinct impression that today was her last post.
And what an inspiring post it was! Looking for truth, [...]

Freegans were profiled on Oprah yesterday, reported on by Lisa Ling.
In fact, Lisa Ling has a great post on freeganism, waste and where the US fits into all of this.
For the uninitiated, what is a freegan?
This growing grassroots subculture is made of people who have decided to live outside consumer society. Freegans say our culture’s [...]

What makes it interesting is that someone did actually attempt to “green” the oscars. From their site:
This year, the Academy, the Oscar telecast producer Laura Ziskin and the entire production team endeavored [...]

Presidential Candidates on Green Issues

Great summary post over at Natural News Network: National Candidates On The Green Issues gives both mostly generalizations about each candidates stance.
Barack Obama, Hilary Clinton, John McCain and even Mike Huckabee represent.
If you want a primer on what each candidate’s stance on environmental issues is, read on.
This is a great start. I’d imagine (hope) that [...]

Prince Fielder Is Now A Vegetarian

I’m a baseball fan, so this story naturally caught my eye.
Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Prince Fielder has gone vegetarian. Prince is a big guy and with solid homerun slugging power.
Much like Kansas City Chiefs tight end Tony Gonzalez, who I noted as profiled in the Wall Street Journal last month, Fielder is a young professional [...]
