GoodSearch For Green Causes
If you haven’t heard of GoodSearch before, this is going to be very welcome news.
GoodSearch is a search engine which donates 50-percent of its revenue to the charities and schools designated by its users.
A search engine that allows you to raise money while searching!
How does GoodSearch work?
* Use this search engine like you would Google, Yahoo, etc.
* GoodSearch is powered by Yahoo, so you’ll get high-quality search results.
* On the GoodSearch homepage, choose from thousands of organizations or add your favorite cause to our list.
* You can also download the toolbar, which will work in exactly the same way as their site.
How do I actually earn this money for my cause through GoodSearch? According to their FAQ:
Last year search engines generated close to $8 billion in revenue from advertisers. We’ve developed a way to direct some of that money to the causes you care about most. It’s easy … every time you search the Internet at GoodSearch.com, your charity or school earns money and the more you search, the more they make. Add up the money generated from all your searches and those done by the millions of other people who we hope will use GoodSearch, and we can make a real difference to the people and causes that need funds most.
Keep in mind that you earn money for charity by clicking on advertisements: “…Fifty percent of the revenue generated from advertisers…”
OK.
My big question was: how much money can I expect to earn for my cause/charity? Chart here.
I’ve been using GoodSearch for awhile now, and am impressed. To me, Yahoo has always worked a little more efficiently for Local searches. Changing search behavior from Google was not that hard.
They also make it easy to get involved in spreading the word about GoodSearch.
Wear some GoodSearch gear proudly!
