Eco-Friendly Laundry Detergents
Following up on yesterday’s post on eco-friendly household cleaners and laundry detergents.
Here is a list of 5 laundry products that we have tried, and in most cases, continue to use. Simple+green recommended:
Seventh Generation Natural Fabric Softener:
A soy-based fabric softener with lavender oil for soft, static-free, soothingly scented clothes.
Eco-friendly facts: non-toxic and biodegradable; not tested on animals; hypoallergenic, made without harsh, water-repellent chemicals (optical brightener and petroleum based cleaner-free)
Bi-O-Kleen Bac-Out Stain & Odor Eliminator:
Natural enzymes digest food, beverage, and pet stains and odors by attacking proteins. Works on tough stains and carpets, alike. Safe to use around children and pets, even birds.
Eco-friendly facts: All Biokleen products are free of chlorine, optical brighteners, phosphates and other toxic elements. Rapidly biodegrades; not tested on animals; safe for rivers, streams, plants, and wildlife.
Earth Friendly Products Baby Laundry Soap:
Hypoallergenic plant-based soap cleanses thoroughly, and chamomile and lavender oils leave clothes soft and fresh smelling. Suitable also for hand-washing wools,and other fine washables.
Eco-friendly facts: Nontoxic, biodegradable, and not tested on animals; free of perfumes, dyes, and optical brighteners.
Ecover Delicate Wash:
Gentle and effective wash for delicates, made with plant-based ingredients to protect color and preserve softness. Contains a light, natural fragrance. Suitable for top and front loading washing machines.
Eco-friendly facts: Completely biodegradable; not tested on animals, minimum impact on aquatic life.
Seventh Generation Free & Clear Chlorine Free Bleach:
This chlorine-free bleach whitens and brightens with hydrogen peroxide, which degrades safely in oxygen and water.
Eco-friendly facts: Nontoxic, biodegradable, hypo-allergenic and not tested on animals; free of perfumes, dyes, phospates and optical brighteners.
If you don’t already use eco-friendly laundry detergents, consider making that change this year. We swear by our chlorine-free bleach and fabric softeners.
