Recycling Rechargable Batteries

Recently, our cache of rechargeable batteries began to lose their ability to be charged. It has been a good 2-5 year run for most of them. But we use them in enough items (TV remote control, wireless mouse, phone) that this is becoming a problem.

Buying new ones is easy. How do I recycle the old ones? As I’m sure you know, you can’t recycle rechargeable batteries through the same means that you would regular batteries.

Enter the Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation (RBRC)! Through their national program, Call2Recycleâ„¢, the RBRC can help you and I recycle our used portable rechargeable batteries and old cell phones.

The number one resource on the Call2Recycle site is the ability to find a drop-off site close to you. I’m pleased to have found over 20 within 10 miles of my home!

I encourage you bookmark this post for when you’re ready to recycle either old rechargeable batteries or your old cellphone. Doing so will keep these out of landfills, and prevent them from leaching toxins as a result. Call2Recycle makes this very easy.
